A Lictor is a bodyguard of a Magistrate or certain priests or priestesses. A Lictor is entitled to a stipend (civilian salary) from the state.

A Vigiles is a policemen and firefighter who roams the streets looking for criminals to arrest and fires to extinguish. A Vigiles is entitled to a stipend (civilian salary) from the state.
