The legatus legionis is the commander and head of a Legion. His salary is 15 times that of an ordinary Militus.
The legatus may recruit and promote all soldiers and officers who rank below him, to his legion.
Praefectus Castrorum
The Praefectus Castrorum is the camp commander. He is in charge of the camp security and camp construction. His salary is 10 times that of an ordinary Militus.
Praefectus Fabrum
The Praefectus Fabrum is in charge of the camp factories, weapon stores and logistics. His salary is 10 times that of an ordinary Militus.
Tribunus Militum
The Tribunus Militum may act as an adviser to the commander of the Legion. The Tribunus Militum is the head of a Maniple in a Manipular Legion. If there is no commander, then the first Tribunus Militum may act as a replacement, and after the first, the second and ultimately the third. His salary is 12 times that of an ordinary Militus.
The tribunus may recruit and promote all soldiers and officers who rank below him, to his maniple.

The Optio is a lieutenant to a Centurio, who is assigned with a certain task. There are quite a number of types of Optio's, like: Optio Carceris (in charge of prison), Optio Custodiarum (in charge of guard duty), Optio Fabricae (in charge of a workshop), Optio Navaliorum (in charge of boats), Optio Praetorii (attached to headquarters), Optio Statorum (military police), Optio Tribuni (assistant to a Tribunus Militum), Optio Valetudinarii (in charge of a military hospital), Optio Centurionis (chosen man of the Centurio). His salary is 2 times that of an ordinary Militus.
Decurio
